AmigaOS3.5 (871/967)

I tried AsimCDFS on the Yamaha 8424 (external). It didn't work. Even after
reinstalling on 3.1. It works fine with my Sony, regardless of OS version.
It's a nice drive though, I got it working on a Mac and a Win98 machine.

There are things that MasterISO does that are very nice: such as convert
Studio16 files into CDDA. It provides good control over what type of CD to
write, but I've had my fair share of coasters made by it too. All the bugs
are not worked out of it yet, so if they are not supporting it. I would say
go with something that will be supported. When CD-R's first showed up,
Asimware was the way to go. Now I'm not so sure.

One thing I really hated about AsimCDFS is that some music CD's with
autoplay functions would not load. They loaded fine in my Win95 machine,
but would not even mount with AsimCDFS and 3.1. I'll have to try one of
them with the OS3.5 CD software. I don't care about the autoplay data
track(s) I would just like to have the audio tracks. Another mess with
AsimCDFS is the way it handles scratched disks. I get CD's from dancers
that really abuse them. The tracks will still play on a Win98 machine
(using the same external drive and AsimCDFS) the same tracks will not load
on my Amiga. In cases where the CD does mount on the Amiga, if the tracks
are not perfect, after AsimCDFS converts the tracks to Studio16 or other
formats there are typically terrible pops and timing problems with the
samples. I've resorted to playing most CD's into my AD516 directly off of
another CD drive in order to sample tracks. At least I usually don't want
the whole track.

Sorry to stray a little, it's late here and I did mark this Off Topic (OT).
